Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Essay Contest

Children 8-17 are invited to write a 100-150 word paper explaining what the Poor People's Campaign was, how it is like the Occupy Wall Street movement, and how Dr. King's dream can be kept alive.

There will be a first prize, as well as cash prizes for second, third, and honorable mention. Essays must be received by 5pm on January 9th. Essay winners will be invited to read their entries at the Labor/ MLK Breakfast on January 16th.

All essays call for the signature of a union member who is sponsoring the entry. Any UESF member can sponsor the essay of any of their students. Please see the Contest flyer for more complete information.
